TWICE (트와이스) is a South Korean boy band that consists of 9 members in total. The group was formed under the television program named Sixteen (2015) and debuted on October 20, 2015.
Early Days of TWICE (트와이스)
On December 19, 2013, the debut of a new girl group was announced by JYP Entertainment. This was supposed to be the first female group after the debut of Miss A in 2010.
JYPE trainees Lena and Cecilia were confirmed as the group members. The group’s name was set to be 6Mix at first.
However, the group could not make its debut as the first two members left the group for some reason.
After that, two more members named Tzuyu and Momo were added to the group, but this decision gained a lot of controversies back then as both of them were eliminated contestants.
The group made its official debut with nine members on October 20, 2015, by releasing their debut EP, The Story Begins, and its lead single titled Like Ooh-Ahh.
Journey of TWICE (트와이스)
As mentioned earlier, TWICE made its official debut on October 20, 2015. After that, the band was appreciated a lot and also gained a lot of fans and supporters.
TWICE entered Billboard’s World Albums Chart and peaked at number 15, the group’s first entry on the chart.
After that, the band released their second EP on April 25, 2016, and the EP was named Page Two, which included the lead single Cheer Up.
The group celebrated its first anniversary on October 20, 2016, by unveiling its new song named One in a million. The song was from their third EP called Twicecoaster: Lane 1.
Concerts & Tours
TWICE’s first-ever solo concert tour was announced by JYP Entertainment on January 10, 2017, within just a year and four months after their debut.
Their first tour was held on February 17-19 at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium. The time was titled Twice 1st Tour: Tweiceland- The Opening.
The band again released a unique album on February 20, titled Twicecoaster: Lane 2, along with its lead single named Knock Knock.
In addition, the band also made its Japanese debut with a compilation album titled #Twice, which was set to be released on June 28.
Twice released the second Japanese single named Candy Pop on February 7, 2018, and the single sold 303.746 copies in its first weekend.
Moreover, it also became the band’s second single to earn a platinum certification from RIAJ.
The band has also performed a cover of The Jackson 5’s I Want You Back. This was the theme song to the Japanese film adaptation of Sensei Kunshu.
Moreover, Twice also released their first Japanese studio album, BDZ. Also, the lead single of BDZ was re-released as a digital on June 26, 2018.

TWICE has won a lot of awards and has also been nominated for a lot of award ceremonies. Some of the awards won by the popular K-Pop band are the Mnet Asian Music Award for Song of the Year (2016, 2017, and 2018), Golden Disc Award Album Division (2019, 2020, and 2021), Japan Record Award for Excellent Work (2018), Golden Disc Award CeCi Asia Icon Award (2018), Seoul Music Awards Dance Performance Award (2017), and many more.
Moreover, the tenth extended play named Taste of Love peaked at number-one on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart. The extended play also made the first EP from a girl group to do so.
All the nine members of TWICE have signed contracts as exclusive models for several brands. They had already worked as professional models even before becoming professional singers.
The members have signed contracts for school uniform brand Skoolooks, alongside J.Y Park. In addition, TWICE had earned a total of KRW 1.8 billion just through several endorsements by December 2015.
Moreover, the K-Pop girl’s band has represented about 30 brands, including cosmetics, clothing, games, food and beverages, credit cards, and many others.
